Richard D. Stagers

RICHLAND ? Richard D. Stagers, 93, of Richland, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Gould Funeral Home in Richland with Hospice Chaplain Don Combs officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation will be immediately preceding the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Memorials for the Richland Volunteer First Responders or for Hospice Compassus may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 310 W. Harrison Street, Richland, IA 52585. Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stagers was born April 28, 1923, in Douds, the son of Osa and Eva Pearl (Perkins) Stagers. He married Roselle Marie Davidson on Dec. 30, 1946, in Washington.

He attended Douds grade school and graduated from Richland High School. He was a part-time farmer and full-time truck driver for 35 years. He drove for John Morrell and Company, Ben Young Farm Market and Adrian Trucking.

Surviving are five daughters, Marsha Snyder of Burlington, Bonnie Bell and husband Jim of Brighton, Jean Stagers and Chris Frakes of Rubio, Rhonda Gordon and husband Dave of Washington, and Angela Stagers of Richland; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on Feb. 1, 2002; two sisters, Donna Hartnell, and LaVada Clark; one brother, Robert Stagers; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sons-in-law, Jim Landon, and Ron Snyder.
