Richard 'Dick' K. Kaufman

      Richard "Dick" K. Kaufman, 78, of Washington, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, of a brief illness that followed a stroke on Sunday.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, at United Church of Crawfordsville in Crawfordsville, with the Rev. Nancy Oehler officiating. Burial will be in Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, with military rites accorded. Visitation begins at noon on Wednesday, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to United Church of Crawfordsville.

      Mr. Kaufman was born on June 22, 1925, in Wayland, to Louie and Verna (Boese) Kaufman. He married Martha White on Oct. 4, 1952, in Ainsworth. She preceded him in death. He married Heidi Wulser Bieri on Dec. 7, 1979, in Crawfordsville.
