Richard “Dickie Bird” E. Mineart, age 81 of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the Jefferson County Health Center.
Visitation for family and friends will be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation starting at 10:30 a.m., with Father Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials are to Meals on Wheels or VFW and mailed to Dale Mineart, 116 Bailey Drive #1A, Manchester, IA 52057.
Richard was born July 9, 1941, in Brighton to Charles V. and Ethel J. (Peck) Mineart. He married Marlee Crew in October 1962. She passed away January 1994. In later years he met his longtime partner Margie Mairet and she passed away July 2022.
Richard served in the National Guard for 7 years. He worked at Loudens and Harley Peck Construction Excavation. Richard was a member of the VFW, Walton Club and Knights of Columbus.\.
He will be missed by his three sisters, Marie (Al) Breese of Casa Grande, AZ, Dolores (Fred) Johnson of Camano Island, WA, and Patricia (Rodney) Leistikow of Deer River, MN; two brothers, Dale (Denise) Mineart of Manchester, IA, and Kenneth (Jody) Mineart of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law, Jackie Mineart of Rockford, IL; several nieces, nephews and best friend, Craig Davisson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Mineart; wife, Marlee; longtime partner, Margie Mairet; brothers, John, Donald and David; nephew, Brock Mineart; and great-nieces, Kaitlyn Mineart and Gemma Holmberg.
