Richard E. Anderson May 30, 1926 - September 21, 2003

Richard Elwin Anderson, 77, of New London, died on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union. Military rites will be conducted by the New London VFW Post 7641 and Henry County Honor Guard. Visitation will begin after noon on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the chapel with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the New London Rescue Unit.

      Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim and his wife Mary Beth Anderson of New London; a daughter, Connie and her husband Greg Schurbon of New London; four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren six great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Chester Anderson and Duane Anderson, both of Mt. Union.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
