Richard Eugene "Dick" Davidson, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020, at the Washington County Hospital.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the Keota Cemetery with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Military honors will be accorded. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Dick was born May 5, 1932, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Harold and Juanita (Dawson) Davidson. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps, during the Korean conflict. Dick was united in marriage to Doris Prandy on September 8, 1951, in North English, Iowa.
Dick worked at the McCleery-Cummings Calendar Factory as a printer for 40 years until his retirement in 1994. He was life member of the VFW, Marine Corps League, American Legion and Graphic Communication Local 591. Dick's greatest love other than Doris was fishing and telling a long tale.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Davidson, of Washington, IA; daughters, Chris Peiffer and husband Rich of West Chester, IA; Roberta Shirkey and husband Mike of Killen, Ala.; and Sally Japsen and husband Brent of Mt. Pleasant, IA; five grandchildren: April (Aaron) Six, Alissa (Rob) Schuerer, Anna (Dustin) McKenna, Staci (Rob) Mancusi and Phil (Bobbi) Peiffer; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, John Rollin Davidson.
"I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray, when in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep, that in his mercy I be judged big enough to keep."
