Richard ?Dick? Lee Mangold, 75, of rural Washington, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at his home.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 24, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 25, at the Old Memory Cemetery in New Market. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.
Mr. Mangold was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Washington, the son of Stanley Fredrick and Betty E. (McCartney) Mangold. He married Linda (Long) Manley on Feb. 15, 1992, in West Chester.
He attended Dutch Creek Rural School and West Chester High School. He farmed with his grandfather and his father, and for 22 years he worked nights at Master Mix Feed Pellet Mill. Growing up, he loved to make homemade ice cream with his family. He also enjoyed horses, raising and training them, tilling gardens and mowing yards for folks, helping other farmers, attending country music jams with his wife, having coffee with friends, and enjoying time with his neighbors.
Surviving are his wife, Linda, of Washington; one son, Michael Manley and wife Tammy of Belle Plaine; four granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Mangold; one sister, Kay (Johnson) Stiegers; and one nephew.
