Richard Nicholson January 3, 1926 - August 5, 2005

      Richard Nicholson, 79, of Brighton, died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Pastor Thomas Raphael-Nakos officiating. Burial will be in Howard Grove Cemetery, west of Pleasant Plain. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the funeral home, with family present. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa, the American Cancer Society or to the Jefferson County 4-H Foundation.

      Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gloria and her husband Don Wasson of Libertyville, and Goldie and her husband Randy Davis of Westminster, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Parker of Tucson, Ariz., and Annabelle McCarty of Arcadia, Calif.; and a brother, Fred Nicholson of Topeka, Kan.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
