Rickey “Rick” D. Goodwin died Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 66.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Washington First Assembly of God Church. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to Noon Wednesday at the Church. Beatty-Peterseim Funeral, Cremation Care and Monument Services is assisting with arrangements. Memorials have been established for Jeremy Goodwin’s South Africa Ministry and Washington County Kewash Trail. All memorials can be given via the Washington 1st Assembly of God giving page (mywfa.churchcenter.com/giving). Please designate if you want the fund to go to Jeremy’s ministry or the Kewash Trail.
He was born December 4, 1955, to Jerry and Marilyn (Widmer) Goodwin. He graduated from Washington High School and attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. He was united in marriage to Sheila Mae Olive August 28, 1976, before she passed away March 11, 2019. He later married Virginia (Wheeler) Tarr October 20, 2019, in Seaton, Illinois. He owned and operated Goodwin House Moving. He was very active with the International House Movers Association. He enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, and exploring our world.
Rickey is survived by his parents, Jerry and Marilyn of North Platte, NE; wife, Virginia of Iowa; children, Tanya (Raul) Cerda of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jeremy (Jenilee) Goodwin of South Africa, Kara (Damon) Marr of Washington, IA, Chris Reighard of Washington, IA; stepchildren, Ed Tarr of Viola, Illinois, Jamie Tarr of Winnebego, Illinois, Shawn (Doug) Sproston of Aledo, Illinois; siblings, Carla (Ron) Bond of Farmington, Arkansas, Christa (Dan) Lund of Brunswick, Ohio, Gary (Tammy) Goodwin of Kearney, Nebraska; 2 uncles of Arizona; nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren, Jake, Matt, Sammie, Zach, Justus, Colben, Elayna, Annalise, Abigail, Hudson, Kinsey and Piper; 4 stepgrandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila, on March 11, 2019; and son, Jason, on November 1, 2008.
