Rita Ann Peck was born on April 25, 1932, in Norway, IA to Louis and Elsie Frimmel Stallman. She attended rural country school before graduating from Norway High School. Rita began working at Collins Radio where she met Arthur Peck. The two were married on January 7, 1954, beginning a journey together that lasted over 66 years. Together they became the loving parents of five children. Rita loved her role as mother, and as the family grew, she became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She returned to the workforce as the children grew older and began working at Tribune Printing before starting her career at the Fairfield Ledger. She was a dedicated employee there for over 30 years until her retirement.
Rita was known for her baking skills and was known for being able to grow anything. She had always had a beautiful garden and flowers that she nurtured throughout the season. She supported her husband’s involvement in the Eagles as a member of the Eagles Lady Auxiliary. She loved her Iowa Hawkeyes, and her favorite pastime was time spent with family. She never missed an opportunity to share about how proud she was of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many who called her friend.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Art Peck; her son, Roger Peck; a son-in-law, Rex Tarrence, and ten siblings.
Left to share her story are her children, Bill Peck of Skiatook, OK, Pat Tarrence of Fairfield, IA, Deb (Richard) Taylor of Fairfield, IA and Randy (Shani) Peck of Litchfield, MN; three sisters, Celestine Duncalf and Doris (Ed) Ballard both of Cedar Rapids, IA and Bea Stallman (John – deceased) of East Moline, IL; a daughter-in-law, Diana Peck, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
