Robert Allen 'Bob' Skrukrud

Robert Allen "Bob" Skrukrud, 66, of Mt. Union, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at his home.

      The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun with the Rev. Harlan W. Winter officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13 at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established.

      Mr. Skrukrud was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Sacred Heart, Minn., the son of John and Gladys Lerud Skrukrud. He married Ruby Carol Olson in Sacred Heart May 9, 1965. He served in the Army during the early 1960s. He owned and operated a restaurant with his wife. After moving to Morning Sun in 1972, he worked at the Morning Sun Elevator, then in manufacturing at H.T. Lensgraf Company in Wapello and Wiedeman Industries in Muscatine before becoming a bulk mail carrier. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the American Legion in Morning Sun. He enjoyed his computer and was an avid sports fan, including the Minnesota Vikings.

      Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Melissa Noble of Mt. Union, Shannon Housman of Mediapolis and Alicia Franklin of Muscatine; a son, Aaron Skrukrud of Morning Sun; 13 grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
