L. ROBERT "BOB" KELLER
Fairfield
L. Robert "Bob" Keller passed away at his home Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. Bob was born June 12, 1929, in Fairfield, Iowa. He was the son of John E. Keller and Grace Heisel Keller and lived in Jefferson County his entire life.
Bob graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947, where he was active in sports, a class officer and member of the Honor Society. He was employed at the Iowa Malleable Iron Co. for 46 years and retired as Plant Production Manager. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and woodworking. Bob proudly served his county in the National Guard for 11 years with the 133rd Medical Company 34th Division. He enlisted as a private and advanced to 1SG.
He married Betty Leathers on June 18, 1950, in Fairfield. They were lovingly married for 71 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Pitts and husband Lynn, of Webb City, Mo.; and two sons, Robert and wife Sherri Keller of Eubank, Ky., and Kirk and wife Ramona Keller of Bozeman, Mont. He loved to travel to Missouri, Kentucky and Montana to be with family.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Kristopher, Matthew, Kerri, Jenni, Sarah, Emily, Jeremy, Rachel, Lydia, Amy and Doug; and great-grandchildren, Emily, Matti, Olivia, Isaac, Kendel, Wyatt, Peyton, Mia, Anne Elise, Ella Rae, Jude, Seth, Jacob, Audrey, Addilyn, Marilyn and Micah. There was nothing better than a game of baseball, fishing, a ride on the tractor with grandpa, or a trip to the candy store. As the family grew, many others called him Grandpa Keller. He left a great legacy of love.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lloyd, Lee and Leo.
Bob loved the Lord and was a member of the Nazarene Church, where he held many offices. Bob had the heart of a willing servant and the talented hands to help many people. Memorials may be made to the Nazarene Church or to Everystep Hospice, Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Open visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Set. 29, at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral service is family only by request.
