Robert M. "Bob" Patterson, 84, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, of natural causes at his farm northeast of Mount Pleasant. A private family graveside service will be held at the family plot in Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. The Rev. David Bracht-Wagner, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may call to sign the register and pay their respects from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mount Pleasant.

Robert Marvin Patterson was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Arthur Marvin "Pat" and Margaret (Rogers) Patterson. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. In 1958, Bob was conferred with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from (then) Iowa Wesleyan College. He received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Bob taught for a while at Mount Pleasant High School and WACO High School. Bob loved to drive. He drove for Winnebago Industries delivering motor homes and for the Caterpillar Corp. He also did private chauffer driving for people for errands, short trips and extended trips. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed dining out and conversing with his friends.
Those thankful for sharing in Bob's life include two sisters, Penelope Patterson and Sarah Conkey and her husband, Howard, all of Hot Springs, Ark.; and three nieces and nephews.
His parents, a brother, John Patterson; a sister, Janice Wieckhorst; and a niece preceded Bob in death.
