Robert D. Metzger June 8, 1930 - April 11, 2004

Robert Dean Metzger, 73, of Galesburg, Ill., died of natural causes at 9:13 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2004, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

      A private family graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Galesburg, with the Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. A celebration of his life will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. A memorial has been established for Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home of Knoxville, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Dale Metzger of Burlington; two daughters, Peggy Lynn Stout of Ankeny and Jean Marie Schnellbacher of Danville; two stepsons, Denny Jandrey of Mt. Pleasant, and Gary Jandrey of Omaha, Neb.; many grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanne Bohm of Miami.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
