Robert Dwayne Gregory Stearns, 70, of Mt. Pleasant passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Robert was born on April 5, 1953, in Burlington, the son of Arvid and Edith (Blythe) Gregory. His parents later divorced and his mother married Clarence “Hank” Stearns. He was united in marriage to Gennie Nuewson and they later divorced. Robert worked for Heatilator of Mt. Pleasant for 20 years before going to work for Boles Auto as a car detailer. He enjoyed fishing and helping other people.

He is survived by his sisters, Cindy French of Hillsboro and Connie Gregory of Ames, along with several nieces and nephews and his good friends, Paul Boles and Melvin Messer.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Stearns.

No services are planned at this time and burial will be held in the Oakland Mills Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
