Robert E. Baylor

Robert Ernest "Lefty" Baylor, 84, of New London, died Saturday, Nov. 17, at Henry County Health Center.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Elliott Chapel of New London, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dot Hasler officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Grandview.

Robert was born March 25, 1923, in Aurora, the son of Robert and Mable Kaiser Baylor. On May 22, 1954, he married Irene Schneider in Mt. Pleasant.

He attended school in Benton and Gladstone, Ill., graduating from Biggsville High School in Biggsville, Ill. A farmer, he raised black angus cattle and was a longtime member of IOOF of Oquawka, Ill. He played basketball with the Gladstone Clippers for many years.

He is survived by two brothers, Daryl Baylor of Mt. Pleasant and John Baylor of Bettendorf; and one sister, Carolyn Hammond of Florida.

His parents, wife, sister Catherine and brother Richard preceded him in death.
