Robert E. “Bob” McClaran, 79, a resident of Fairfield, formerly of Birmingham, passed away, Thursday, September 7, 2023, at his home.

Bob was born August 26, 1944, in Fairfield, the son of Robert Paul and Jennesse (Jameson) McClaran. He married Judith A. Howard, August 25, 1964 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Throughout his life, Bob worked at Rockwell Standard, Iowa Ammunition Plant, Bob Skelly in Birmingham, and retired in 2000 from the experimental and spray-painting departments at John Deere Ottumwa Works with 29 years of service. He was an avid reader, enjoyed NASCAR, tractors, the Iowa State Fair, and piddling in his garage. Bob cherished his time spent with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Judy; sons, Todd McClaran of Fairfield and Trent (Tanya) McClaran of Stockport; grandchildren, Kelby (McKenzie), Chloe, Olivia, Cael, Kannon, and Bella McClaran, Tycen and Tate Jordan; great-grandchildren, Khamari and Khyrie McClaran, and Milani Thomas; sister, Carolyn Balmer of Keosauqua; and a brother, Jerald (Gail) McClaran of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Troy; and sisters, Joyce Meade and Dolores Watson.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
