Robert Eli Scranton

      Robert Eli Scranton, 83, of Washington, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, at St. James Church in Washington, with the Rev. Charles Fladung and the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, with military rites accorded. A general memorial has been established or memorials may be directed to Hospice of Washington County.

      Mr. Scranton was born on Sept. 30, 1921, in Washington County, to Frank R. and Alice G. (Jones) Scranton. On Sept. 13, 1942, he married Theresa C. Bruty in Memphis, Mo.
