Robert Eugene 'Shep' Shepherd

      Robert Eugene "Shep" Shepherd, 82, of Ainsworth, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following injuries suffered in a farming accident.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Jones-Eden Funeral home in Washington with the Rev. Telford Dindinger and the Rev. Kelly Allard officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday in the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment with military honors conducted by the Washington American Legion Post No. 29 will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A memorial fund has been established to restoration of the Strawbridge-Shepherd House in Springfield, Ill. or to the Bethel Presbyterian Church.

      Mr. Shepherd was born May 2, 1925, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Charles Raymond and Minnie S. (Selinger) Shepherd. He married Lorna Hart on July 29, 1944, in Springfield.
