Robert G. 'Bob' Merschman

Robert G. "Bob" Merschman, 80, of St. Paul, died of cancer, Friday, April 22, 2005, at 11:40 a.m. at West Point Care Center.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 at St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul, with the Revs. Gary Beckman and Apo Mpanda officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the church, with family present from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be at 3 p.m. and a Christian Vigil service at 7 p.m. A memorial has been established for Marquette School, St. Paul Center. Link Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Karen and her husband Frank Redeker of Fairfield, Marcia and her husband John Kruse of Hillsboro, Becky and her husband Fred Wallace of Long Grove, Joan and her husband Gary Gentry of Carrollton, Texas, and Angie and her husband Brad Box of West Point; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, William and his wife Bernice Merschman of West Point, and two sisters, Wilma and her husband Gene Panther of Muscatine, and Martha Menke of Pilot Grove.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debra Freitag; and a sister, Marian Dingman.
