Robert G. Runyon
Robert G. Runyon, 52, of rural Stockport, died Sunday, Sept. 9, , at the Jefferson County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chem-Gro Shop in Hillsboro with Rev. Dave Doerr officiating . Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home. Family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established to the Chemo Suites of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Robert was born on Jan. 31, 1955, in Keosauqua, the son of William L. and Ruth Watson Runyon. A graduate of Harmony High School in Farmington and Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, he worked for J.J. Nichting Company of Pilot Grove, before returning home to farm with his father until his death. In the off season he did work for Chem-Gro of Hillsboro custom applying fertilizer, and worked in the shop during the winter. On Dec. 14, 1985 he married Beverly Burkhalter in Stockport.
He is survived by his wife, and two daughters: Rochelle Engle and her husband Chuck of Fairfield, and Chantelle at home, and one grandson Vincent. His sister: Doris Carr and her husband Tom of Keosauqua, and two brothers: Richard and his wife Karen of Cheney, Washington, and Daryl and his wife Dianne of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his brother Larry, a nephew Eric and uncle Milo.
