Robert Heitmeier

Robert Heitmeier, 69, of Burlington, died at 7:47 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Great River Medical Center.

The body has been cremated. A graveside ash committal will be 1 p.m., Saturday, July 22, at Long Creek Methodist Cemetery in rural Danville, with the Rev. Jack Howard officiating, and graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars post #10102 and post #9162. No formal visitation has been planned. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Heitmeier was born May 21, 1931, in Villisca, the son of Clayton Russell and Mabel Whipple Heitmeier. He was a farmer and served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include one son, Robert Joseph Heitmeier of Bushnell, Ill.; three daughters, Doretta Sue Lawson of Plymouth, Ill., Joni Steele of Colchester, Ill., and Hazel Jean Malone of Macomb, Ill.; one sister, Darlene Gerdom of Burlington; two brothers, Vergel and Gary of Mt. Pleasant; 23 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and one brother.
