Robert L. Welcher April 9, 1933 - July 28, 2005

      Robert "Bob" Leo Welcher, 72, of West Burlington, died at 7:12 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The memorial service was today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with Pastor Dean Moberg officiating. Burial was in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

      Survivors include his wife; four sons, Curt Welcher and Michael Welcher, both of Burlington, Steve Welcher of West Burlington, and Brian Welcher of Virginia; a daughter, Maria Welcher of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Welcher of Gladstone, Ill., and Bill Welcher of Manchester; and two sisters, Erma Hayward of Mt. Pleasant, and Genevieve Brown of New London.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
