Robert N. DeLong June 16, 1915 - December 15, 2003

      Robert Newell DeLong, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Burge Cemetery in New London. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to the Calvary Baptist Church or to the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.

      Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Beverly and her husband Robert Whitaker of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Maurice DeLong of San Gabriel, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Wiley of Mt. Pleasant, and Ruth and her husband Wesley Peterson of Wayland; and two grandsons, one great-grandson, three step great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
