Robert Reade Ross, 94, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness. Public memorial services and interment will

Robert "Bob" Ross was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Darrel and Avis (Baker) Ross. He graduated from Washington High School in 1944 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Hotle on June 26, 1949, in Washington, Iowa.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Washington, Iowa, working as a mechanic at Ross Motors until his retirement in 1989. He was president of the local March of Dimes and a member of the United Methodist Church, Jaycees, Washington Golf and Country Club and served on the Washington City Council.

He is survived by his son, William Ross and wife Nora of Redmond, Ore.; son-in-law, Rich Pierson of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Michael Pierson and wife Danielle of Yokota Air Base, Japan, Brett Pierson of Washington, Iowa, Brian Pierson of Washington, Iowa, Maggie Pierson of North Liberty, Iowa, Tad Ross and wife Jennifer of Washington, Iowa, and Cory Ross and wife Kelly of Washington, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Sheila Stebbins of Rockford, Ill.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2018; son, Tony Ross; daughter, Kristine Pierson; brother, Dick Ross; and sister, Jo Patterson.

Bob's family will greatly miss him, but cherish the memories, the many trips taken, games played, the always primed joke, the many laughs and his service before self.
