Robert Wesley Thorington

Robert Wesley Thorington, 68, of Danville, formerly of New London, died at 6:50 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 in Brooks Cemetery in New London, with Pastor Hank Ledbetter officiating. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Elliott Chapel in New London. There will be no family visitation. The casket will remain closed. A memorial has been established to Brooks Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick Alan and his wife Sandra Thorington of Cedar Rapids, and Robert William Thorington of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Debra Lund; a grandson; a step brother, William Carpenter of Mt. Pleasant, a half sister, Mattie DeWitt of Keokuk, and a half brother, Jim Carpenter of Colona, Ill.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Stace Carpenter; a sister, Joyce Wellington; a half sister, Janet Carpenter; and a son, Dwight Allen Thorington.
