Roberta A. Goodwin

WELLMAN ? Roberta Ann Goodwin, 84, of Wellman, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2016, in Halcyon House in Washington.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with the Rev. Maureen Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice and Lending Hands.

Mrs. Goodwin was born July 3, 1932, in Washington County, the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle (Huber) Redlinger. She married Vernie Ray Goodwin on Aug. 26, 1951, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Wellman.

She worked as a nanny in Chicago, the Tiny Diner and Maple Crest in Wellman, and Oral B in Iowa City before retiring due to health. She enjoyed cooking, baking, family and friends. The ?welcome mat? was always out to enjoy a cup of coffee with her amazing pies or doughnuts.

Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Wilkens and husband Rick of Clive, and Renita Bayliss and husband Donald of Wellman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gary ?Tex? Redlinger of Wellman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernie, in 1997; two grandchildren; and one brother, Rodney Redlinger.
