I went to be with God on Friday, November 14, 2025, after fighting a long battle.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. James Church with Fr. Dane Dickinson officiating. Calling hours will begin 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established for Halcyon House. Online condolences may be sent for my family at www.jonesfh.com.
I was born on September 8, 1955, to the best loving parents, Cleo and Betty (Lowe) McCoy. They were married twelve years before they had my Irish Twin and myself. Lorna, my sister and I were born within a year of each other. My brother, Craig “Buzz” came along six years later.
I enjoyed farm life including everything from detasseling, pulling weeds in the bean fields, helping lamb ewes and participating in 4-H. I attended and graduated from WACO High School. After graduation I graduated from William Penn College with a teaching degree, and later from Mount Mercy with a Special Education degree. My first teaching assignment was at St. Vincent in Keokuk, Iowa. After that I moved to Wapello and met my husband, Bob Lamb.
We traveled to many schools as he became a school administrator: North Winneshiek, Central Lee and finally rested in West Carroll, Illinois. During this time, we were blessed with two boys, Matthew and Martin, and later along came our bonus child, Matthew D. The boys were very involved in sports and I never missed a meet, game or match. It helped that their Dad had keys to just about any gym they wanted to practice in.
I retired from teaching Special Education after 30 years and enjoyed every year that I taught. I then substitute taught after moving to Washington, Iowa. I always felt a special connection to the people at Halcyon House because my parents spent their last 14 years there and I volunteered there as much as possible. We started spending our winters in Texas in 2016 and enjoyed many friends and good times we had there.
In 2017, we were blessed with grandchildren: Kip and Bennett. In 2019, along came Cleo Marie, Amy, Asher Charlie and the twinnies, Wren and Cora, in 2023. Those seven were the light of my life. I enjoyed every minute spent with them. I only hope they remember how much I loved them and enjoyed spending time with them.
