KALONA ? Rodney David Dumont, 44, of Wellman died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at his home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Holy Trinity Parish ? St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemeteries ? St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, with a rosary at 2 p.m. and prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A general memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Dumont was born Oct. 30, 1972, in Washington, the son of David and Linda (Sobaski) Dumont. He married Christina Ulin on Sept. 8, 2001, at Lake Iowa. The couple later divorced.
He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1991. He lived in the Wellman area his entire life, where he had an excavating and auto recycling business, and was a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, working in his shop and camping.
Surviving are his mother, Linda Weber and husband Doc of Kalona; his father, David Dumont of Wellman; two siblings, Jason Dumont and wife Suzanne of Solon, and Jody Gingerich and spouse Torrey of Riverside; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Eleanor Sobaski, and Elmer and Verna Dumont.
