ROGER DUANE HUFFMAN
Cantril
Roger Duane Huffman, 79, of Cantril, Iowa, passed away on Jan. 13, 2020, at his home. He was born on May 31, 1940, in Jefferson County, Iowa, to John and Martha Dorothy Huffman. Roger grew up and attended school in Rural Jefferson County. He married Evelyn Hughes on Aug. 7, 1960, at the Fairfield United Methodist Church. Together, Roger and Evelyn raised four daughters, Tami, Joanna, Chris and Kathi.
Roger spent his career as a truck driver. He drove for John Morrell and Consolidated Freightways and was a proud member of the teamsters for several years. Roger was known as an excellent mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with cars. He was an extrovert who was full of life and never knew a stranger. Roger will be remembered for his generous and kind spirit, and how he was always looking out for others. He will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 60 years and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Huffman; four daughters, Tami (Denise) Huffman of Duluth, Minnesota, Joanna (Kim) DeBont of Des Moines, Iowa, Chris (Shawn) Hart of Rural Ottumwa, Iowa, and Kathi Huffman of Oglesby, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Kassidy, Kaleigh, Tyler, Tarra, Cody, Elijah, Leah, Naomi and Nathaniel; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Janet Schmitz, Sharon Boettcher, Colleen Ruggles and Virginia Buckler; and a brother, Donnie Huffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Huffman; and three grandsons, Jonathan, Joseph, and Jacob.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. There are no services planned at this time. After his passing, Roger was able to give the gift of life with tissue donation through Iowa Donor Network. Memorial contributions in Roger's honor may be directed to the Van Buren County Ambulance Service.
