Roger Lee Adam
Washington
Roger Lee Adam, age 67, of Washington, Iowa, took his last breath, peacefully but unexpectedly on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Unionville, Missouri at his lake home. His Heavenly Father took his hand, along with his own Father Paul, Father-in-law Joe and Brother-in-law Joe III. Our faith assures our hearts, that these great fathers will continue to guide us and comfort us in the coming days and years until one day we meet again.
Celebration of life services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at St. James Catholic with Father Bernie Weir and Father Troy Richmond officiating. The family will be present at St. James Church to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Private family interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. Roger was a simple family man who would request that in lieu of flowers, you spend your time and money taking your loved ones out for a meal or have a weekend away together. If so desired, there will be a memorial established for the St. James School Scholarship Fund. (exclusively for families not eligible for STO or not approved for the new Students 1st Education Savings Account.) Online Condolences may be sent for the family at www.jonesfh.com.
Roger was born June 5, 1956, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Paul L. and Mary Kathleen (Clarahan) Adam. He graduated from Washington High School in 1974. Roger was a lifelong resident of Washington, Iowa. Roger was his Dad’s favorite little farmboy, and his Dad, Paul instilled the love of planting corn and beans and seeing them grow and harvested. Roger married Becky Evanovich, in August of 1978. Roger farmed and raised hogs until 1993, east of Washington. They then sold their acreage and they and their children, Tiffany, Paul and Seth; moved to town, where they were blessed with their 4th child, Kael. Roger began working for Ameriprise Financial. He was still working for Ameriprise, and was in his 37th year with the company.
After almost 45 years of marriage to his wife Becky, Roger was the most happy and proud to be with his wife, four children; Tiffany, Paul, Seth and Kael; and his six grandchildren. Roger was always the first one in the bleachers or on the sidelines to cheer on his kids or grandkids at any events. Family was everything to Roger. When Roger was not with family, or fishing at the lake, he was most likely in a deer stand, or on the mower, or hunting turkeys with one of his sons. He felt so lucky to be a husband, father and friend to all who knew him. His laugh and humor was contagious and his presence will be missed profoundly. Roger would encourage you to never hold a grudge, Live, Love and Laugh as much as you can for as long as you can!
Roger has been a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church where he served as Parish Council President, volunteered for the school many years and still currently served on the St. James Foundation. He volunteered for over 25 years with Whitetails Unlimited and currently served on the Board of Directors for Farm and Home Security Insurance.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Adam of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Tiffany Glover of Washington, Iowa; son, Paul Adam of Bettendorf, Iowa; son, Seth Adam of Washington, Iowa; son, Kael Adam of Washington, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Kylee & Paxton Glover; Sadie Adam; J.P., Andon, & Luka Adam; sister, Karen (Dave) Vittetoe of Keota, Iowa; sister, Nancy (Dave) Keller of Davenport, Iowa; mother-in-law, Jane Evanovich of Washington, Iowa; sister-in-law, Aimee (Jeff) Enfield of Washington, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sarah (Chris) Leyden of Iowa City, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; special people, Jason Hamilton; John Glover; Lindsay Lyon; Braylon, Eloise, & Vivian Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Joe Evanovich Jr.; and brother-in-law, Joe Evanovich III.
