Roger Lewis Cutkomp, 87, went to his Heavenly Home on November 16, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
He was born December 27, 1936, in Columbus Junction, Iowa, son of George Russel Cutkomp and Velma Cutkomp. He married Trusa Layman on June 30, 1962, in Fairfield, Iowa.
Roger served in the Army National Guard for 4 years. He farmed most of life and then became a truck driver. Farming was his true passion. He was a longtime member of the Free Methodist church in Columbus City, Iowa. In later years, he became a member of the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church in Wayland, Iowa.
Roger and Trusa lived on a Cutkomp Farm, south of Columbus Junction, where they raised 5 children. They lived there for 52 years and then retired to Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa in 2014. They enjoyed living in such a loving and supportive community. He had a lot of great friends at Halcyon. He loved playing pool, cards, and riding side-by-sides with them! He also never missed a chance to mow someone’s yard. He was always so positive and lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trusa, his brothers Kenneth & Craig, his father, Russel, and mother, Velma, and his son-in-law, Bryan Kottman. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Cutkomp, sister, Florence Johnson, and their 5 children: Tammy Emry (Bob) of Brighton, IA, Barbara Kottman of Brighton, IA, Troy Cutkomp (Marianne) of Ingleside, TX, Chad Cutkomp (Loretta) of Columbus Junction, IA, Amy Taylor (Adam) of Shawnee, KS, and 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held on November 30 at 1:00 PM at the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church in Wayland. Reception immediately following at Halcyon House in Washington.
