Roger M. Slagell
Roger M. Slagell, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Feb. 22, at Henry County Health Center.
His body has been cremated. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, Feb. 28, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at the chapel, with the Rev. Pat Youngquist officiating.

He was born in northern Illinois, the son of Roy and Lavina Roeschley Slagell. He married Betty Logsdon in Springfield, Ill.
A graduate of Flanagan High School, he farmed with his brother and was a district sales manager for Mastermix Feeds, and continued in that career with Protein Blenders based out of Iowa City. As a young man, he sang in a gospel quartet, The Messengers. He was a member of the Avenue of the Saints Wood Carvers Club, a 4-H leader, and a member of the Lion's Club, where he served as president in both Strawberry Point and Mt. Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Doug Slagell and his wife Becky of Illinois and Jeff Slagell of Mississippi; his brother, Del Slagell; his sister, Myrna Park; his sister-in-law, Ruth Slagell; and three grandchildren.
His brother Bob Slagell preceded him in death.
