KALONA ? Roman I. Miller, 74, of Brooklyn, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, in the Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Private graveside services will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Deep River Fire Department, the Deep River Responders, or Essence of Life Hospice.
Mr. Miller was born Jan. 29, 1942, in Kalona, the son of Ira and Fannie (Yoder) Miller. He married Linda Swartzendruber on Oct. 22, 1961, at the Kalona United Methodist Church.
He and his wife lived and worked at the Oakdale Campus in the dairy and the kitchen for 10 years. After that time, he was employed on several farms in Ladora and Guernsey, and later at the Brooklyn Elevator until retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; four siblings, Jonas Miller and wife Lillian of Realto, California, Chris and wife Betty of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Chet Miller and wife Katie of Marion, and Mary Ann Ferguson and husband Scott of Moravian Falls, North Carolina; his wife?s family members, Randy Swartzendruber and wife Joyce of Kalona, Sue Ross and husband Paul of Casa Grande, Arizona, Bill Swartzendruber and wife Salinda of Bellevue, Nebraska, Dave Swartzendruber of Riverside, Patty Swartzendruber of Iowa City, and Kevin Swartzendruber and wife Carol of Kalona; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irene Schultz; and one brother, Oba Miller.
