Ronald Gibbs December 1, 1915 - December 4, 2003

            Ronald "Jockey" Gibbs, 88, of Waxhaw, N.C., formerly of Mt. Union, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 in Waxhaw.

      Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the Yarmouth First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held before the funeral services from noon to 1:30 p.m. A general memorial has been established. Honts Funeral Home in Winfield is in charge of the arrangements

      Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary Gibbs of Mt. Pleasant, Ronnie Gibbs of Burlington and Fred Gibbs of Waxhaw; one daughter, Sylvia Haines of Waxhaw; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elva DeYarman of Morning Sun, Helen Cromer of Florida and Leila Ode of Arizona.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
