Ronald K. Phillips

      Ronald K. Phillips, 63, of Eldon, died Dec. 22, 2000, at Henry County Health Center.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Visitation began at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 26, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Eldon Fire and Rescue Unit or the Eldon Lions Club.

      Mr. Phillips was born June 13, 1937, in Jefferson County, the son of Louie and Mabel Hyett Phillips. He married Carol Wolf on Dec. 23, 1963, in Eldon. He was raised in Eldon, graduating from the Eldon High School in 1955 and living his entire life in Eldon where he was an engineer for the Rock Island and other railroads for 43 years, retiring in May, 1999. He was an army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Eldon Lions Club.

      Survivors include his wife; his mother, of Eldon; a son Todd of Minneapolis, Minn.; two daughters, Colleen Lillie of San Jose, Calif., and Page Scovel of Mt. Union; two brothers, Donald Phillips of Orion, Ill. and Gary Phillips of Eldon; three sisters, Sharon Fitzwater of Osage Beach, Mo., Diane Pohren of the Quad Cities and Joyce Tharp of Ottumwa; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
