Ronald Paul Louth passed away Dec. 15, 2020, at the age of 82, at Great River Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa, of COVID-19 complications.
Ron was born in Waukegan, Ill., on Sept. 22, 1938. Some of his employers included Peter Pan Baker, Sanitary Dairy and Rockwell International, where he was supervisor. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and farming. He liked to watch westerns and football. Ron was an avid reader and especially loved to read his favorite western novelist, Louis L'Amour.
He married Shirley Mae (Iseman) in Lockridge, Iowa, on July 12, 1956. After their marriage, they lived in numerous places before they moved to Birmingham, Iowa, in 1963 and settled down on their farm.
Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Terry (Jill) Louth and David (Karen) Louth, both of Birmingham; and daughters, Sherry (Steve) Gouge of Ottumwa and Tammey (Robert) Saffo of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Joann of Ogden, Utah; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Timothy and Perry; his parents, Dorothy (Stoner) Nelson and Chet Louth; his stepfather, Kenneth Nelson; his brother, Richard Louth; and his sister, Patricia Davisson.
In lieu of flowers, cards and memorials may be made to Birmingham City Park and mailed to Shirley Louth, 18754 120th St., Birmingham, IA 52535.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date with inurnment in Maple Hill Cemetery.
