Donald N. Hahn Sr., 87, of DeWitt, Iowa, died peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in DeWitt.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Watson officiating. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Keota Cemetery in Keota, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the DeWitt Vet Clinic – “Care for Cleo”. Online condolences may be sent for Ron’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Ron was born November 21, 1935, in Washington, Iowa, the son of John and Delpha (Black) Hahn. He graduated from Ainsworth High School. Ron was united in marriage to Shirley Bradshaw and together they raised seven children. Ron was later married to Carol (Reese) Franklin on May 19, 1978.
In his earlier years, Ron worked as a hired man for area farmers and was a Butcher at a local meat locker. He later worked for Washington Transfer Company and Crane Valve Company. After moving to Davenport, Ron worked for J.J. Mfg., Plant Services Incorporated (PSI) and lastly worked for American Piping Group (APG) until his retirement in 2007.
Ron enjoyed fishing, listening to music, dancing and grilling. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends and caring for his dog, Patches.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Lomen of Dubuque, Iowa; Crystal (Pat) Davis of Dubuque, Iowa; Tony (Janet) Hahn of Hooppole, Illinois; Randy (Chris) Hahn of Delmar, Iowa; Ronald “Nick” (Karen) Hahn Jr. of Washington, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Indah Hahn; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; Sister, Margaret Pepper of Washington, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Joan Hahn of Jennings, Missouri and Gerda Hahn of Riverside, California. His is also survived by his step-children, Merryl Tate of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jerri (Ed) Kennon of West Des Moines, Iowa; Robert Franklin of Martin, South Dakota; Eva Litwiler of Keithsburg, Illinois; Lisa Hollingsworth of Kansas City, Kansas; and brothers-in-law, Richard (Sandra) Reese of Tiffin, Iowa; and Gerald (Rosemarie) Reese of Wilton, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol, in 2012; sons Paul Hahn and John Hahn and granddaughter, Amada Hahn; three brothers: Charles, Harold and Kenneth Hahn; as well as his brother-in-law, Kenneth Pepper.
