Ronald 'Ron' Butler
RONALD "RON" GLENN BUTLER
Crawfordsville
Ronald "Ron" Glenn Butler, 65, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020.
He was born in Dallas, Texas, on Aug. 3, 1955. Ron was the son of Patsy (Pittman) Wagner and Ken Wagner, fathered by James Butler. He spent his early adulthood serving our nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. This service to our nation he considered an honor and a duty. When he separated from the Army, Ron spent most of his life married to his precious sweetheart Susie for nearly 44 years. Together they had two amazing daughters, Jonell Butler-Kraus of Independence, Mo., and Amanda Felts of Crawfordsville.
Ron spent a lifetime in continued service to our nation by ensuring supplies/equipment etc. where shipped and delivered from coast to coast as truck driver. He truly enjoyed his view of the world through his windshield and knew most of the country based on highways and street intersections. He drove for 40 years and retired from Decker Truck Line. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, watching motor races (NASCAR Winston Cup was his favorite), watching westerns and anything that had The Duke (John Wayne) in it. He also enjoyed cooking and coming together with family and friends over any meal. Ron thoroughly enjoyed tinkering in his shop and "keeping up" with his yard, generally, just being outside. He also enjoyed the company of the many family pets throughout his life.
Ron was greeted in heaven by his parents, Patsy and Ken; a brotherm Richard Butler; and his grandparents.
Ron leaves behind his adoring wife and daughters. A blessed "adopted" daughter, Tracy (Foster) Ford of Macomb, Ill.; a brilliant granddaughter, Izabelle Felts; loving sisters, Elaina (Butler) Mieners and Heather (Wagner) Bray, both of Chicago, Ill.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
All who knew him will miss him. His only request of those who read this is to be kind, respectful and love each other. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Disabled Veterans Association in his name. Visitation held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 24, at the City Hall in Crawfordsville. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
