RONNIE "RON" W. HART
Mount Pleasant
Ronnie "Ron" W. Hart, 76, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at his daughter's home in Eolia, Mo. According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant. A celebration of Ronnie's life will be held at a later date.
Ronnie was born on July 29, 1943, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Ronald Paul and Bertha Julia Mills Hart. On Feb. 12, 1961, he was united in marriage to Elke Andresen at her parent's farmhouse. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2009. They made their homes raising their children in Mount Pleasant, Trenton, Oakland Mills, Rome, and in Tucson, Ariz., for seven years. Ronnie was employed by Blue Bird Midwest in Mount Pleasant, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, and also working construction for various companies. In Tucson, he worked in the Copper mines before returning to construction, as his passion was always in operating heavy equipment, specifically bulldozing. Before retirement Ronnie ran his own bulldozer as well as working for Steger Construction Inc. of Dyersville, Iowa. Ronnie enjoyed weekend family time, "Sunday Funday" being the highlight, whether at his home grilling out and playing cards or camping down at Oakland Mills.
The last several years were dedicated to floating on the river on his pontoon boat with family/friends and his trusted First Mate, Tucker (his poodle), bringing him much joy, laughter and great memories. He had an array of outside interests and hobbies: woodworking, hunting/fishing, raising cows/sheep and rebuilding vehicles, to name a few. He also enjoyed Louis L'Amore novels, and had a sizable train collection.
Ronnie is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Hart of Mount Pleasant, Lori (Shawn) Elder, of Eolia, Mo., and Shelly (Kelly) Scarff of Mount Pleasant; his grandchildren, Taylor (Gabriella) McLeland, Lexy McLeland, Micky (Florencia) Manning, Miah Manning, Hallie Elder, Drew (Mariah) Scarff and Dustin (Allison) Scarff; one great-grandchild, Damian Manning; his sisters, Janet Young of Oakland Mills, Joan Millard of Mount Pleasant, Berta (Larry) Pearson of New London, Cherry (Frosty) Hermanstorfer of Mount Pleasant and Ginger Robertson of Mount Pleasant; his brothers, Gary Hart and Theodore Hart, both of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Randall William Hart; and his brother, Larry Gene Hart.
