Rose Emma Jensen

Rose Emma Jensen, 94, of Des Moines, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.

      The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 15 at Luther Memorial Church, with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Memorials have been established to Luther Memorial Church, Grand View College or Trinity Center at Luther Park.

      Mrs. Jensen was born in Mt. Pleasant, and lived most of her life in Des Moines. She married Erling Jensen. He preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College and worked as a teacher and as a homemaker. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of Luther Memorial Church, The Order of the Shield, Entre Nous and Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. She and her husband Erling received the doctor of honorary degree in humanity from Grand View College.

      Survivors include a daughter, Mary Oswald of Johnston; a grandson and three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Virginia Nielsan of Elk Horn; two brothers-in-law, Harold Hoegh of Exira, and Gerald Jensen of Pleasant Hill; three stepgrandchildren and 10 great-stepgrandchildren.
