Rosemary Joyce "Rosie" Carman, 66, of Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 13, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends following a 4 p.m. rosary service. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church of West Burlington, with the Rev. Patrick J. Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Carman was born Nov. 6, 1941 in Burlington, the daughter of Francis and Evelyn Hartman Walsh. On July 29, 1983, she married Carl D. Carman in Burlington.
In 1959, she graduated as valedictorian from Huron High School in Oakville. She also received the Citizenship Award l.
She worked at Champion Spark Plug as a production operator for 34 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, and was on the Church Parish Council. She belonged to UAW Local 1237, where she served as the Union Benefits Representative, Area Retirees, Eagles Club, Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge, Burlington Gym, and the 5:02 Girls Club. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed writing. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; her mother; two daughters, Robin Smith and her husband Jon of Oquawka, Ill. and Amy Mattoon and her husband Steve of Burlington; four sons, Perry Rettig of Las Vegas, Nev., Robert Rettig, Tony Rettig, and Scott Carman, all of Burlington; one brother, Gary Walsh and his wife Mary of Burlington; four sisters, Romajean Messer and her husband James of Mt. Pleasant, Gloria Gooch and her husband Ted of Tucson, Ariz., Lyn Salisbury and her husband Scott and Lori Steward and her husband Ron, all of Burlington; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her father, son Randy Rettig and one nephew preceded her in death.
