Rosemary Mae Chalupa, 99 of Kalona, formally of Washington, died January 10, 2024, at the Pleasantview Home.

Funeral services have been set for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washinton. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 PM before the service. A general memorial in the name of Rosemary Mae Chalupa has been established.

Rosemary was born May 12, 1924, in Wapello, IA the daughter of Sherman and Mary (Bergen) Moore. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1942 and attended college in Burlington. She was united in marriage to Euguene Chalupa, on September 20, 1945, in Washington, Iowa.

She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church and recently attended the Independent Bible Church in Wayland. She was employed for the Reginal Corps & Army in Washington DC after college. She worked for 2 years at Ross Manufacturer. She was also employed at Pamida in Washington for 18 years.

Survivors include her children, Randy (Marsha) Chalupa of Wayland, Roger Chalupa of San Diego, CA and Diane (Wayne Kwait) Johnson of Chicago; sister-in-law Stephane Chalupa of Chicago; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, son Larry, siblings: Robert, Rex, Bill, Harold, Floyd, Ester Reihart, Coleen Whitmore, Betty Perry and twin great-grandchildren.
