Rosetta Bender

KALONA ? Rosetta Bender, 85, of Kalona, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at the Pleasantview Chapel in Kalona with the Rev. Floyd Helmuth and Chaplain John King officiating. Burial will follow at the East Union Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Friday at the Pleasantview Chapel. A memorial fund has been established for Pleasantview Home. The Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.

Rosetta Viola Bender was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Johnson County, the daughter of Samuel E. and Gertrude (Gingerich) Bender.

She was a charter member of Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church. She enjoyed playing games, especially dominoes; and while she was still able to attend church services, she and her brother Emery would entertain guests in their home following the service, playing games and eating ice cream.

Surviving are one brother, Emery F. Bender of Kalona; and her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Cletus Samuel Bender.
