Rosie F. Mart, 97, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Marlowe Carlson and Pastor Joseph Brown officiating. Calling hours will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb. Memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Home or Marion Avenue Baptist Church. Rosie was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Lynch, Neb., the daughter of Henry W. and Marie (Carlson) Anderson. She attended country school near Gross, Neb. Rosie was united in marriage to John J. Reandeau on March 23, 1944, in Butte, Neb. He preceded her in death in 1961. Rosie later married Albert C. Mart on June 22, 1964, in Wahoo, Neb. He passed away in 1980.
Rosie was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm. She later worked as a cook at Ryan High School in Omaha, Neb. After her move to Iowa, Rosie worked in the housekeeping department at the University of Iowa Hospital for many years. She was a member of Marion Avenue Baptist Church, where she participated in the Jolly 60s. She was proud of her Swedish heritage and after starting school learned English as her second language. Rosie loved to collect recipes and would spend hours listening to several "Neighbor Ladies" on the radio recording their recipes. She loved to shop and was known to "browse and not buy." Rosie enjoyed attending fairs, especially the Nebraska State Fair and the Iowa State Fair. She loved Old Threshers and attended annually.
She is survived by her daughter, June Asper and husband Marlowe Carlson of Green Valley, Ariz.; daughter, Janet Leet and husband Jim of Washington, Iowa; and grandchildren, Timothy Leet and wife Tessa and their children, Dimitri, Tabby and Rebekah of Springville, Iowa, Chris Leet and wife Emily and their children, Gibson, Ben, Ella and Jonathan of Riverside, Iowa, Eric Leet and wife Debby of Washington, Iowa; Natalie Howell and husband Jake and their daughter, Hazel of Washington, Iowa. Rosie is also survived by three nephews, Gaylen Bergstrom, Gary Bergstrom and wife Brenda, and Gerald Bergstrom and wife Brenna.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 1961; husband, Albert, in 1980; special friend, John Liska; and one sister, Lucille Bergstrom.
