Ross Bradford Shafer January 25, 1907 - May 8, 2004

Ross Bradford Shafer, 97, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center.

      Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, with the Reverends Rodger Moyer and Paul McLeod officiating. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Tuesday, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., that evening. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Bible Missionary Church of Mt. Pleasant.

Survivors include one son, Vernon R. Shafer of Tucson, Arizona; three granddaughters, Kimberly and her husband, Conrad Kruse, of Fort Madison, Iowa, Kelly and her husband, Rick Barton, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Kristine and her husband, Rick Jeffrey, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Kara and Colton Kruse, Weston, Whitney and Willow Barton, and Ashley and Allison Jeffrey; and a nephew, Richard Latch of Ankeny, Iowa.

      Along with his wives, Mr. Shafer is preceded in death by a step-daughter Carol Ann Gray, three infant children, one sister, Isabelle Latch, one brother Cassius Shafer, and one sister-in-law, Edith Shafer.
