Ross Lewis Edwards

Ross Lewis Edwards, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 12:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at Pleasant Manor Care Center.

      The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens in Des Moines. A memorial has been established to the First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines. Donations may be left at Weir Funeral Home or the Mt. Pleasant City Clerk?s Office.

      Mr. Edwards was born April 18, 1906, at Bedison, Mo., the son of Charles E. and Cora A. Lewis Edwards. He married Dorothy E. Ehlers on June 28, 1930, at Des Moines. He graduated from Harmony High School near Ravenwood, Mo., in 1924. He graduated from the Open Bible Institute in Des Moines in 1933. He worked in a truck manufacturing plant manufacturing truck bodies, retiring from Swift and Co. as a cost accountant. He was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines.

      Survivors include two sons, Norman R. Edwards of Newport News, Va., and Jon C. Edwards of Tarzana, Calif.; two daughters, Janene DeJaynes of Mt. Pleasant and Joyce Imsland of Newport News; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother, Howard Edwards and a sister, Virginia Edwards.
