Rowan Virginia Ross, age 17, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Calling hours began noon Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family was present to receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Private family services will be held at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Rowan was born August 28, 2007, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Cory B. and Kelly A. (Heilemann) Ross. Rowan was currently a Senior at Washington High School and was taking college courses through Kirkwood Community College. She previously attended Columbus Junction High School.

Rowan was currently working at the United Presbyterian Home and had aspirations of becoming a neonatal nurse. She previously belonged to Future Farmers of America, participated in dance at Studio E, and was a member of the Washington Go-Getters 4-H Club where she was involved in the dog show for many years. Rowan played softball for many years for WASA, the Renegades and the Thunder, and played softball for one year in high school.

She is survived by her parents, Cory and Kelly Ross of Washington, Iowa; brother, Anthony Joseph Ross, at home; maternal grandparents, Allen and Barb Heilemann of Buffalo, New York; paternal grandmother, Jackie Ross and Duane Hammen of Washington, Iowa; uncle, Allen Heilemann and wife Shannon of Buffalo, New York; uncle Tad Ross and wife Jennifer of Washington, Iowa; four cousins and several aunts and uncles.

Rowan was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Tony Ross.
