RICHLAND ? Roy Grover Johnson, 80, of Lady Lake, Fla., died Thursday, June 11, 2015, in the Arbor Village Nursing Home in Wildwood, Fla.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland with the Rev. Carl Benge officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately preceding the service, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Memorial gifts for the Richland Public Library may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1210 Del Toro Dr., Lady Lake, FL 32159.
Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Richland, the son of Grover and Pauline (Failyer) Johnson.
He graduated from Richland High School in 1953 and worked at several businesses in Richland and neighboring communities. In 1992 he moved to Lady Lake, Fla., where he lived with his brother Robert. He was a member of the Richland United Methodist Church. He loved to play bingo, work ceramics, swim and attend the various theme parks in Orlando and Tampa, Fla., especially Walt Disney World. He was a great fan of country music.
Surviving are one sister, Virginia Starmer and husband Carl of West Des Moines; one brother, Robert Johnson and wife Joan of Lady Lake, Fla.; special friend Barb Gillman of Lady Lake, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Rosamond Johnson of Globe, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Alfred, of Globe, Ariz.
