Roy Sawyer May 17, 1928 - October 1, 2003

      Roy "Dink" Sawyer, 75, of West Burlington, died at 8:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at his home.

      The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5 at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Steve Huecker officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday at the chapel with family receiving friends one hour prior to the time of the service. The body has been cremated. A memorial has been established.

      Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judy Getchell and Penny Broeg, both of Burlington, and Bonny Lyons of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, James Sawyer of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Tom Sawyer of Burlington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Zelora Icenogle of Rock Falls, Ill., and Barbara Metcalf of Burlington.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
