Roy Willis Oakman

      Roy Willis Oakman, 97, of 305C S. 30th St., died Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2008, at home.

      A memorial service was held this morning at First Christian Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Suzanne Swahn officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Interment of ashes will be in Glade Cemetery in Blandinsville, Ill.

      Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or to the Fairfield Public Library.

      Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

      Mr. Oakman was born Sept. 18, 1910, in Hire township near Blandinsville, Ill., the son of Joseph Henry and Bertha Berges Oakman. He married M. Elizabeth "Peggy" Burr April 8, 1933, in Macomb, Ill. She died Oct. 3, 2006.
